pigeons that inhabit the rugged granite cliffs of the island. It consists of two distinct islands—

Large Pigeon Island and Small Pigeon Island—surrounded by a spectacular, highly diverse coral

reef system that forms one of the premier snorkeling and scuba diving destinations in the

country.

The marine sanctuary is renowned for its exceptional water clarity and rich biodiversity. The

shallow coral gardens around the large island showcase dozens of species of hard and soft

corals, providing a vibrant habitat for over 300 species of colorful reef fish, including clownfish,

angelfish, parrotfish, and large schools of damselfish moving through the water.

The absolute highlight of snorkeling at Pigeon Island is the frequent, close encounters with the

reef's larger residents. The shallow waters are a reliable home to dozens of blacktip reef sharks,

which can often be seen gliding gracefully over the coral beds, completely undisturbed by

snorkelers. The park is also a vital feeding ground for endangered sea turtles, including

hawksbill and green turtles, which swim slowly through the shallows to feed on sea grass.

Visitors walk directly off the small coral beach into a thriving marine wonderland, making it an

essential adventure for nature lovers.
